Marathon
Times are taken exclusively using the ChampionChip.
The following methods are offered:
a) Chip owners state your personal ChampionChip number (seven digit letter and number combination) on the entry form.
b) Buy a Chip: Please tick the appropriate box on the entry form. A charge of €31.00 for the sale will be debited from your account or credit card. A ChampionChip, which you can use at other events as well, will then be sent to you by post.
c) Rent a Chip: Rent a chip and return it in good shape after finishing the race at the return point by the exit of the runners’ village or send it by post by the latest two days after the event. A charge of €6.00 will be debited from your account or credit card on your entry. If the chip is not returned in time a further charge of €25.00, which is the difference between the rental charge and the sale price, will be debited.
Attach the ChampionChip securely to your shoe fastening. Don’t fit to metal parts, as the timing signal will be impaired.
Marathon Relay
Times are taken exclusively using the ChampionChip. The ChampionChip is a plastic transponder which is fastened at the ankle and serves as a relay baton. It must be given to the runner taking over at each handoff· and the fourth runner wears it until finishing. The ChampionChip is loaned to your relay team and must be returned on the day of the event at the return point or be sent in at the latest two days after the event via post.
If the chip is not returned in time a further charge of €25.00, which is the difference between the rental charge and the sale price, will be debited.
Attach the ChampionChip securely to your shoe fastening. Don’t fit to metal parts, as the timing signal will be impaired.
Marathon
You can deposit your clothing bag containing your personal items at the central reception point at the runners’ village on Heiligengeistfeld on the 29th April from 07.00 onwards before the start. Please note that only official clothing bags from the Haspa Marathon Hamburg can be accepted. Allow enough time to hand in your clothing bag. Please note, that no responsibility can be taken for loss of valuables and that therefore the clothing bag should only contain change of clothes.
Marathon Relay
Each relay runner is issued a clothing bag, intended for “before start and after finish” clothing. Due to the early road closures and large race time differences between the teams, it is not possible to arrange transport for clothing to and from the hand off zones. These hand off zones are just next to U and S train stations, and you can use the start number as a public transport ticket for the day.
So we recommend that the relay runners organise their clothing bags as follows:
Runner 1 deposits a clothing bag, with Runner 1’s “before start” and Runner 4’s “after finish” clothing at the runners’ village. Runner 1’s “after finish” clothing is given to Runner 2 to take to hand off zone 1. At the time of hand off, when the transponder “baton” is passed on, the clothing bag is handed over. This is the runners’ responsibility.
Runner 2 takes Runner 1’s “after finish” clothing and also puts his own “before start” clothing into this clothing bag at hand off zone 1. Runner 2’s “after finish” clothing is taken by Runner 3 to hand off zone 2. At the time of hand off, when the transponder “baton” is passed on, the clothing bag is handed over. This is the runners’ responsibility.
Runner 3 takes Runner 2’s “after finish” clothing and also puts his own “before start” clothing into this clothing bag at hand off zone 2. Runner 3s “after finish” clothing is taken by Runner 4 to hand off zone 3. At the time of hand off, when the transponder “baton” is passed on, the clothing bag is handed over. This is the runners’ responsibility.
Runner 4 takes Runner 3’s “after finish” clothing and also puts his own “before start” clothing into this clothing bag at hand off zone 3. Runner 4s “after finish” clothing will be received at the runners’ village from the bag deposited by Runner 1.

Marathon Relay
By registering, all team members declare that they have understood and accepted the general terms and conditions (GTCs). Once successfully registered, the team leader is sent an official confirmation with the team's start numbers. By the 15th April 2012 he will receive the official confirmation of entry with the team start number allocated.
The entry fee will be deducted from the team leader’s specified account as a one time direct debit. The same applies to the cost (€25.00) arising from loss of or failure to return a loaned ChampionsChip.
Over 7,000 kids between the ages of 6-17 years are expected to compete on the kids course of 4.2195 km on Saturday, 28th April 2012.
NEW! This year marks the first time adults can also enter the kids marathon "das Zehntel"!
You can find more information here.
The finish is on Glacischaussee (abeam the Heiligengeistfeld) and is open until 15:30 (14:30 for the relay race) This is equivalent to a race time of 6hrs 30 min (5hrs 30min for the relay race). Runners arriving at the finish later than the time provided will not appear in the results. Once you have crossed the line, you will receive your finishing medal. Leave the finish area after that as soon as possible and proceed to the Runners’ village on the Heiligengeistfeld.
As the roads are almost all closed we recommend coming to the event headquarters at the Heiligengeistfeld by public transport (HVV underground or surface rail service) – U3: St Pauli and Feldstrasse or S1: Landungsbrücke to Reeperbahn.
You can check for train timetables on the HVV website: www.hvv.de For queries about local public transport you can also call 040-19449
Marathon Relay
Because the roads will be generally closed to traffic, surface transport can not be offered by the organiser, so the hand off points were chosen so that they can be reached comfortably by underground train (subway). We recommend that all participants make use of public transport and resist the urge to organise private transport to and from the hand off zones. All relay team members may use their start numbers as tickets for public transport. Make sure that you start your journey to the hand off point with sufficient spare time!
Marathon
If you cannot take part in the event, despite having entered, you may choose a substitute competitor, who then has to take over all the services booked by you. Once a starting place has been substituted in this way, it cannot be passed on a second time. Any substitution has to be completed by 30th March 2012 in writing or from the 27th to 28th April 2012 at the accreditation personally, for an additional charge of € 19.00.
